Through his amazing defensive and shot-blocking skills, Bill Russell revolutionized college basketball. Playing under Hall of Fame Coach Phil Woolpert, and teaming with fellow Hall of Fame backcourt star K.C. Jones, Russell helped the University of San Francisco capture back-to-back NCAA Championships in 1955 and 1956. Later, Russell helped turn the Boston Celtics into a powerhouse that dominated opponents, both defensively and offensively. During Russell's career, Boston won 11 NBA championships, including 8 consecutive titles from 1959 to 1966. He was named the league's MVP five times and was a 12-time All-Star Game participant. Russell has been named one of NBA Basketball's 50 Greatest Players-1996.
