Biography

Coach Bobby Knight owns the most wins of any head coach in NCAA Division I college basketball. Knight played on the 1960 Ohio State NCAA Champion team. He was assistant coach at West Point from 1963-65, then head coach from 1965-70. In 1971, Knight became head coach at Indiana University. Nicknamed "The General" for his tough, exacting approach, Knight coached the Hoosiers to three NCAA National Championships and one NIT Championship. He never had a losing season at Indiana. Knight coached the U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball Team to a gold medal in 1984. Texas Tech hired Knight in 2001 to coach their Red Raiders. Knight led Texas Tech to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2005. He has been commended for high percentages of graduating players and was the 2007 recipient of Naismith Award for Men's Outstanding Contribution to Basketball.
