Biography

Earl "The Pearl" Monroe's incredible spin moves, pump fakes, and dribbling expertise befuddled opponents. Playing for Hall of Fame coach Clarence "Big House" Gaines, "The Pearl" took Winston-Salem to the D-II National Championship in 1967, averaging an astounding 41.5 points per game as DII Player of the Year that same year. Monroe teamed with Wes Unseld to create a devastating fastbreak offense for the NBA Baltimore Bullets, then teamed with Walt Frazier to form a legendary backcourt that led the New York Knicks to the 1973 NBA Championship. He was a four-time NBA All-Star.
