Edgar Diddle played college basketball at Centre College in Kentucky. He coached high school basketball for two years following his graduation before becoming coach for Western Kentucky University in 1923. Diddle compiled a record of 759 wins and 302 losses through 42 seasons at Western Kentucky. An early proponent of the fast-break offense, Coach Diddle had only five losing seasons at Western Kentucky. He retired in 1965 as the fourth winningest coach in college history and the only coach to win more than 1000 games at one school. His Hilltoppers won or shared over 30 conference championships and played in 3 NCAA and 8 NIT Tournaments.
