A four-time All-Southland and All-Louisiana honoree, Dumars averaged 22.5 points a game in four years at little McNeese State College in Louisiana. He was named to The Sporting News All-American team and became McNeese State's all-time leading scorer. Chosen in the first round of the 1985 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons, he was a six-time NBA All-Star with Detroit and MVP of the 1989 NBA Finals. Michael Jordan called Dumars the "best defensive player" he ever faced. Joe Dumars is currently serving as President of Operations for the Detroit Pistons.
