Biography

In his first season of college coaching, Ramsay led the St. Joseph's University Hawks to a 23-6 record, the school's first Big 5 championship and a trip to the National Invitation Tournament. Ramsay led St. Joseph's to nine more post-season appearances, including the 1965 NCAA Final Four. He later coached four NBA teams and won the NBA championship with the Bill Walton-led Portland Trail Blazers in 1977. Ramsay retired as the NBA's second winningest coach. He was GM of 1967 Philadelphia 76ers. Ramsay's books, Pressure Basketball and The Coach's Art, are basketball classics.
