"Jumpin' Joe" Fulks was an NAIA All-American and one of college basketball's first great scorers and basketball's first modern jump shooter. His one-handed shots helped propel Kentucky's Murray State University to a 21-5 record in 1943. As a professional, he led the Philadelphia Warriors to the BAA Championship in 1947. He averaged 23.9 points per game in an era when pro teams seldom tallied more than 70 points per game.
