Leonard Sachs coached Loyola University basketball from 1923 to 1942. In nineteen seasons, Sachs' record included a 31-game winning streak from 1928 to 1930. A strong advocate of big man basketball, he developed a fast-breaking offense and a 2-2-1 zone defense which, in those years, allowed his big men to goal tend legally. Sachs' was instrumental in organizing and hosting the National Catholic Interscholastic Tournament.
