Biography

Mike Montgomery enjoyed a successful coaching career spanning over three decades. He is most notably known for taking over a Stanford program that had been absent from the NCAA Tournament for more than 40 years and returning the Cardinal to the Tournament within just three seasons. He reached the NCAA Tournament 12 times at Stanford with 10-straight second-round appearances and a trip to the 1998 Final Four. He was a four-time Pac 12 Coach of the Year and was named the Naismith College Coach of the Year in 2000. Montgomery recorded 25 winning seasons out of 26 as a head coach at Montana, Stanford, and Cal and was the recipient of the John R. Wooden Legends of Coaching Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
