Paul D. Hinkle is known as the Dean of Indiana College Basketball Coaches. Hinkle coached three sports at Butler College. His football, basketball, and baseball teams won more than 1,000 games. He led Butler basketball to the Helms Athletic Foundation National Championship in 1924 and 1929. Hinkle served as President of the NABC in 1954-55. He was also Chairman of the Rules Committee of the National Basketball Committee of the U.S. and Canada. Butler's "Hinkle Fieldhouse" is the longtime home to "Hoosier Hysteria", Indiana's state high school championships, and was the arena used for the hit movie "Hoosiers."
