"Pitchin' Paul" did not play high school basketball, but he progressed rapidly at Villanova University in Pennsylvania. By his senior year, he led the nation in scoring average with 25.3 points per game and was voted Collegiate Player of the Year. He led the NBA in scoring twice with the Philadelphia Warriors (1952-53 and 1956-57) and won a world championship in 1956.
