A hook shot specialist, "Hooks" Houbregs put the University of Washington Huskies on college basketball's map in the 1950s. He was named the Helms Foundation Player of the Year and an All-American in 1953 and led the Huskies to 1953 NCAA Final Four. Houbregs holds the top three Huskies scoring records, each over 40 points per game. He played professionally for the Milwaukee Hawks, Boston Celtics, Baltimore Bullets, Ft. Wayne Pistons and Detroit Pistons.
