Biography

Robert "Hooks" Wanzer, the six foot Brooklyn New York native played for Seton Hall University. In the first round of the 1948 BAA draft, Wanzer was the tenth pick by the Rochester Royals. Wanzer played his entire NBA career for the Royals, winning the Championship in 1952. A five time NBA All-Star, Wanzer was the first player in basketball history to shoot over 90% from the free throw line in a single season.

Inducted into the United States Marine Corps Sports Hall of Fame, August 17, 2007.
Wanzer died on January 23, 2016, at his home in Pittsford, New York.
