St. Bonaventure's first consensus All-American in 1960 and 1961, Tom Stith scored more than 2,000 points in only 77 games over three seasons. He served as co-captain on the Bonnies’ first-ever NCAA team. Stith had an almost unstoppable hook shot, and won more national attention for the program than any other player up to that time. Playing alongside his older brother, Sam, the duo scored 3,163 career points, the highest total for two brothers in an NCAA program prior to the NCAA rule permitting four playing years in 1972-73. The 1959-60 Bonnies finished fourth in the NIT, led by the Stith brothers’ combined 52 points per game.
Stith finished second in the nation in scoring to Oscar Robertson in 1960, averaging 31.5 points per game, and he then finished third in 1961 with 29.6 points per game. At his graduation, Stith was the school's all-time leading scorer, ending his career with 2,052 points.
Died on June 13, 2010, at the age of 71.
