Congenial off-court, a fierce competitor on-court. Standing 6'7" and weighing 230 pounds, he was an All-American, and one of the game's first true power forwards. Intense rebounder, tenacious defender. Led Hamline University of St. Paul, MN to the 1949 NAIA Championship. Played ten solid years (699 of 704 games) for the Minneapolis Lakers, teaming with Hall of Fame center George Mikan to form one of the most dominant frontcourts in NBA History. Scored over 10,000 in his NBA career. Won four NBA Championships. Six time NBA All-Star.
